Lourdes Almeida

(Mexico City, 1952) She studied photography in Florence, Italy. She was a student of the "Autumn Talks" workshop taught by Manuel Álvarez Bravo. Since 1978, she has had individual exhibitions in Museums of Mexico, Latin America, the United States, Europe and Asia; Likewise, she has participated in more than 300 collective exhibitions around the world. He has taught photography workshops and conferences at Mexican universities such as UNAM, Ito, Universidad Iberoamericana, Tecnológico de Monterrey as well as in US universities. His work belongs to public and private collections among which are: The International Collection of Polaroid (Cambridge, MS) Museum of Fine Arts (Houston); Southeast Museum of Photography, Daytona Beach Community College (Florida); Castilnovo Foundation in Spain; University Museum of Chopo (UNAM, Mexico); House of the Americas, Havana, Cuba; Wilfredo Lam, Havana, Cuba; The Los Angeles Museum, Turégano, Spain. In Cinema she has made the art direction of the Movies of Jaime Humberto Hermosillo, at night Vignes Esmeralda, with which she obtained three Ariel Awards in 1998; Exorcisms, Eden and two Auroras. He received the scholarship for intellectual creators from Fonca in Mexico in 1992 and subsequently a member of the National System of Fonca Creators from 2001 to 2004. Among the prizes he has obtained are the Camera de la UNESCO Award for the Project Portrait of Family in 1996. First place in the poster contest of the XXXII International Festival Cervantino, 2004. Silver Medal in the Fourth Austrian Super Circuit de Linz, Austria, 1994. He currently lives and works in Mexico City.
