MYCK

MYCK is an artistic intervention that represents the constant struggle between colour and geometry for the visual control of all the spaces they inhabit. To balance the dominant nature of both energies, we have created a geometric structure capable of hosting the full chromatic spectrum defined by the CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) subtractive colour model. Only after signing a peace treaty on the façade of the building can colour and geometry come together in an embrace that will resolve their endless rivalry and allow us to contemplate the great secret that lies in harmony: its constant search for the balance of opposites.

OSCURANA presents a body of work arising from Antoine d'Agata's travels over more than thirty years in Brazil, Peru, Nicaragua, Salvador, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guatemala, Haiti, Puerto Rico, the United States, Cuba and Mexico.

OSCURANA is remarkable for its immediate, almost brutal vision of societies caught in the brutal spiral of violence. Through the degeneration and paroxysm of the flesh, the photographer seeks to reveal fragments of society that escape the usual analysis and visualisation of the collective body.

Antoine d'Agata records what he lives and experiences the situations he documents. By transgressing the boundary that separates the photographer from his subject, he becomes the object of his image, a forced actor in his own premeditated scenario, photographing the fragile shadows that break free from social control by appeasing animal impulses, evading the moral order and accessing the last magical rites of instinct.

In the obscene transparency of an ultra-communicative world, d'Agata, rejecting voyeuristic or sociological viewpoints, invents a language made of instinct and flesh as a barrier against the puritanical and economic order, and frees himself from a global and insidious ideology aimed at replacing desire with fear.

Hydra + Fotografía is a review of the current photographic production in Mexico through different activities such as exhibitions, the publication of photobooks and workshops, where authors from different generations and places in the country converge and intersect to draw and open to the public a complex, contradictory and disturbing map of photography and reality in Mexico today. Through various lines of work we seek to raise questions, to open up photography to reflection and dialogue that allows for diverse readings and enriches the medium.
