The fake is a genre of artivism (contemporary art and political activism) and is understood as a strategy of transgression that opposes the power of an informative authority with the force of suspicion and criticism.

The fake would appear to "pull the wool over the eyes", to pass off as true content that is false, but its essential mission is not deception but precisely the opposite: to provide the public with the tools to uncover and defuse the deception.

The fake can be deployed on any social platform: the media, museums, shopping centres, shows, etc. In this workshop we will deal with forms of fake that infiltrate in the form of a photographic book. 

Spanish artist, teacher, essayist, critic and art promoter specialising in photography, David Octavious Hill Award from the Fotografisches Akademie GDL in Germany in 1988, Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture in 1994, Premio Nacional de Fotografía, awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Culture in 1998 and Premio Nacional de Ensayo in 2011.

As a promoter of events related to the art of photography, he organised the Jornadas Catalanas de Fotografía in 1979, and in 1982, he helped set up the Primavera Fotográfica de Barcelona.

In 1984, he was the curator of the exhibition Idas and Chaos. Vanguardias fotográficas en España 1920-1945, exhibited at the Biblioteca Nacional de Madrid and the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York, and later Creación Fotográfica en España 1968-88 exhibited at the Cantini Museum in Marseille and the Centro de Arte Santa Mónica in Barcelona.

In 1996 he was appointed artistic director of the International Festival of Photography in Arles.

In 1998 he was awarded the National Photography Prize by the Spanish Ministry of Culture.

In 2011 he won the National Essay Prize awarded by the Ministry of Culture for his work 'La cámara de Pandora'.
