En este taller todo gira en torno a los retratos fotográficos y al acto de devolverlos: a la persona retratada, al campo, al lugar donde fueron tomados.
En el curso, la fotografía se entiende tanto como un medio artístico como una herramienta comunicativa que puede fomentar intercambios significativos entre el fotógrafo y el fotografiado.
In this workshop, everything circulates around photographic portraits and the act of returning them – to the person portrayed, to the field, to the place that they were taken in.
In the course, photography is understood both as an artistic medium and a communicative tool that can foster meaningful exchanges between photographer and photographed.
El objetivo del taller es ayudar a los participantes a profundizar su compromiso con la fotografía de retratos a nivel práctico y teórico, y desarrollar su voz artística en un entorno de aprendizaje propicio.
Se invita a participar a profesionales de todos los niveles y procedencias. Es beneficioso tener un interés especial por trabajar con personas o en temas sociales. No es obligatorio presentar proyectos en curso o en proceso, pero se recomienda hacerlo, ya que se pueden tratar en el taller.
The hope of the workshop is to help participants deepen their engagement with portrait photography on a practical and theoretical level and develop their artistic voice in a supportive learning environment.
Practitioners of all levels and backgrounds are invited to participate. A special interest for working with people or in societal topics is beneficial. Projects that are ongoing or in process are not required but encouraged and can be dealt with in the workshop.
OBJETIVOS DE APRENDIZAJE
LEARNING GOALS
★Desarrollar la expresión artística en el ámbito de la fotografía de retratos.
★ Experimentar con el acto de devolver fotografías.
★ Obtener comentarios constructivos sobre el trabajo en curso.
★ Intercambiar opiniones con compañeros sobre fotografía, diálogo y colaboración.
★ Ampliar el marco de referencia a través del trabajo de otros fotógrafos.
★ El resultado será un pequeño proyecto realizado durante el taller.

ABOUT MAFALDA RAKOŠ
Mafalda Rakoš (nacida en 1994) vive y trabaja entre Viena y Ámsterdam. Formada como antropóloga y motivada por el conflicto ético que plantea retratar y representar a otras personas, desarrolla enfoques colaborativos para crear proyectos a largo plazo en la intersección entre el arte, la antropología y la fotografía documental, con un fuerte énfasis en el diálogo y la toma de decisiones conjunta.
Entre 2013 y 2023 trabajó en diferentes proyectos con personas afectadas por trastornos alimentarios y otras enfermedades mentales. Su trabajo ha sido nominado y galardonado en varias ocasiones con premios internacionales y expuesto en museos como el Nederlands Fotomuseum de Róterdam, el Museo Benaki de Atenas y el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Zagreb, pero también se ha mostrado fuera del contexto artístico en conferencias sobre trastornos alimentarios o en el Hospital General de Viena. Publicaciones como Die Zeit, Volkskrant Magazin o Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin y organizaciones como The Wellcome Collection han publicado sus fotografías. Su cuarto libro de fotos, All in this together, fue publicado por Eriskay Connection en 2024.
Mafalda Rakoš (b. 1994) lives and works between Vienna and Amsterdam. Trained as an anthropologist and triggered by the ethical conflict around portraying and representing others, she develops collaborative approaches to create long-term projects in the intersection of art, anthropology and documentary photography, with a strong emphasis on dialogue and mutual decision-making.
From 2013-2023 she worked on different projects with persons affected by eating disorders and other mental illnesses. Her work has been nominated and awarded several times for international prizes and exhibited in museums such as the Nederlands Fotomuseum in Rotterdam, the Benaki Museum in Athens and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, but has also been shown outside the art context at conferences on eating disorders or in the General Hospital in Vienna. Publications such as Die Zeit, Volkskrant Magazin or Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin and organizations such as The Wellcome Collection have published her pictures. Her fourth photo book All in this together was published by Eriskay Connection in 2024.
