Talk about your brand

"The mind is like a house and the house is like the mind. One can move from the basement to the attic by going up the stairs or by a corresponding state by which one moves from the deepest intact knowledge to a place that is united with the ethereal".

Roger Ballen & Didi Bozzini
The House Project.

SECRET

Hydra + Fotografía presents SECRETO, an exhibition that brings together a dozen contemporary photographers, who travel with their minds and bodies, through the house, the imagination, in private and public rituals, in actions that materialise in disturbing and provocative images.

This exhibition invites the public to immerse themselves in unique worlds, charged with symbolic meanings, asking us different questions about our nature, desire, the body, the encounter with the other.
Among the authors in the exhibition is the internationally renowned Johannesburg-based American Roger Ballen, whose images, always produced in black and white, have had the central aim of revealing essential aspects of the human condition.

Until the mid-1980s, Ballen's work, primarily documentary, entered a new phase in which the real serves him to carry out a work of introspective research that leads him to create images of a sometimes hallucinatory and surreal nature, featuring a mixture or grouping of objects and characters in sordid and strange environments, where the limits between fiction and reality are blurred.
