Esta es una colección de libros multidisciplinarios. Cada título o volumen es una acción, un pensamiento traducido a imágenes fotográficas, gráficos y textos. Una colección multifacética, como la vida contemporánea, multilingüe, con matices, texturas y variaciones paisajísticas. Una mirada que utiliza diferentes lenguajes como enredaderas, saltando de un árbol a otro, de una experiencia a otra. Es la voz de un personaje que tropieza pero sigue adelante; a través de su obra, se burla de sí misma y de todo lo demás, porque si no ríes, solo te lamentas.
Instantes trastocados es una ciudad de pensamientos que se expandirá hasta convertirse en una biblioteca de estructuras silenciosas y reflexivas sobre la vida. Cinco libros que se pegan entre sí con imanes formando un paisaje citadino; edificios grises por fuera, con el drama en su interior unidos por sus fachadas. Diferentes relatos creados por la misma voz: la de una mujer de mediana edad, inquieta por los cambios en su cuerpo, su familia, las prisas cotidianas y por la Catrina, que le viene pisando los talones.
This is a collection of multidisciplinary books. Each title or volume represents an action—a thought translated into photographic images, graphics, and text. It is a multifaceted collection, much like contemporary life: multilingual, rich in nuances and textures, and full of shifting landscapes. It offers a perspective that uses various languages like vines, leaping from tree to tree, from one experience to the next. It is the voice of a character who stumbles but keeps moving forward; through her work, she pokes fun at herself and everything else—because if you don’t laugh, all that’s left is lamentation.
*Instantes trastocados* (Disrupted Moments) is a city of thoughts destined to expand into a library of structures—silent, reflective meditations on life. Five books that magnetically attach to one another to form an urban landscape: buildings that are gray on the outside yet hold drama within, joined by their facades. They are distinct stories crafted by a single voice—that of a middle-aged woman grappling with changes in her body and family, the rush of daily life, and *La Catrina*, who is hot on her heels.

Es un recorrido visual a través del miedo, el desconcierto, el presentimiento y la certeza de tener que perder al padre. Este libro se editó tres semanas antes de que él enfermara y cinco semanas antes de que muriera. Muchas veces las hijas saben, presienten y avisan la próxima pérdida del progenitor, ¿qué significa vivir con esa sensación, esa certeza incierta? Esta serie pone en papel lo que el viento susurró: Ya casi es su hora de partir.
It is a visual journey through fear, bewilderment, premonition, and the certainty of having to lose one’s father. This book was published three weeks before he fell ill and five weeks before he died. Daughters often know, sense, and foresee the impending loss of a parent; what does it mean to live with that feeling—that uncertain certainty? This series commits to paper what the wind whispered: the time for him to leave is almost at hand.
Los anhelos son invenciones
Mi quehacer fotográfico, se agotó. Acepté que los tiempos fotográficos no son siempre los adecuados para producir. La cámara necesita espacio para transitar, detenerse, observar con el cual yo no contaba. Pero sí pude tener un cuaderno, un lápiz para seguir trazos que se convirtieron en imágenes que lograron plasmar un momento de vida. Mi producción se adecuó para dar paso a un espacio creativo nuevo. Me aventuré a un terreno distinto, desconocido, abrí la puerta a la imagen desde una geografía nueva. Estas páginas son invenciones de lo real para expresar mis tránsitos cotidianos por pensamientos, sueños y pesadillas.
My photographic practice ran its course. I came to accept that the timing for photography isn't always right for creation. The camera requires space to move, to pause, and to observe—space that I lacked at the time. Yet, I did have a notebook and a pencil to trace lines that transformed into images, capturing a moment of life. My creative output shifted to make way for a new kind of space. I ventured into different, uncharted territory, opening the door to imagery from a new vantage point. These pages are fabrications of reality, expressing my daily journeys through thoughts, dreams, and nightmares.
Por un instante
Descansar está mal visto. Si alguien no se mueve, fracasa. Este libro es una reflexión sobre el derecho a hacer una pausa. Detenerse, respirar, observar los acontecimientos sin ser parte
de ellos. Es una forma de revelarse ante una sociedad que mide a las personas por su logros sin importar las necesidades de cada individuo. Es una meditación poética que percibe al tiempo como una experiencia relativa y fluida. El descanso suele verse de forma negativa, como si la inactividad equivaliera a un fracaso; este libro anima a observar la vida sin participar en ella, resalta la importancia de tomarse un momento para respirar y reflexionar. El tiempo no es lento ni rápido, sino una experiencia subjetiva, hacer una pausa permite comprender mejor las texturas y los ritmos de la vida.
Resting is frowned upon. If you aren't in motion, you are failing. This book reflects on the right to pause—to stop, breathe, and observe events without being part of them. It is an act of rebellion against a society that measures people by their achievements, disregarding individual needs. It is a poetic meditation that views time as a fluid, relative experience. Rest is often viewed negatively, as if inactivity were synonymous with failure; this book encourages observing life without actively participating in it, highlighting the importance of taking a moment to breathe and reflect. Time is neither slow nor fast but a subjective experience; pausing allows for a deeper understanding of life’s textures and rhythms.

—¿A qué te dedicas?
— Soy artista, profesora, mamá, esposa, ama de casa, empresaria.
—¿Cómo logras todo si solo hay 24 horas en un día? ¿No tienes que manejar, esperar, llevar, traer, descansar, ordenar, supervisar, cuidar?
—Sí, eso quita tiempo.
—¿Qué vas a hacer?
—Gritar, pedirle a esos momentos muertos que se vayan, que no ocupen el espacio de mi voz, voy a usar mis palabras para ahuyentarlos.
El texto de este libro se escribió en el celular durante tres años en los momentos muertos, cuando esperaba que el semáforo se pusiera en verde, cuando el tráfico no me permitía avanzar, durante la fila de autos esperando a que los niños salieran de la escuela o que una persona me atendiera durante un trámite, en la sala de espera del médico o afuera de la clase de los niños en la tarde. Fueron instantes que al juntarse se convirtieron en horas días, en cinco metros de aforismos poéticos, filosóficos e introspectivos.
Dead Moments
—What do you do?
—I am an artist, a teacher, a mom, a wife, a homemaker, an entrepreneur.
—How do you manage it all when there are only twenty-four hours in a day? Don't you have to drive, wait, ferry people around, rest, tidy up, supervise, and care for others?
—Yes, that takes up time.
—What are you going to do?
—Scream; tell those dead moments to leave, not to take up the space where my voice belongs; I’m going to use my words to drive them away.
The text of this book was written on my phone over the course of three years during those dead moments: while waiting for a traffic light to turn green, when traffic wouldn't budge, while sitting in the line of cars waiting for the kids to leave school or for someone to attend to me while running errands, in the doctor’s waiting room, or outside the children’s afternoon classes. These were fleeting instants that, when pieced together, turned into hours and days—into five meters of poetic, philosophical, and introspective aphorisms.

Mariana Gruener
Artista Visual mexicana, trabaja a partir de la investigación y experimentación para vincular la fotografía con otros lenguajes del arte, que convergen en libros de artista o instalaciones. Periodista y fotógrafa de formación, ha recibido varias becas y reconocimientos. Fue maestra durante 20 años a nivel universitario. Ha expuesto su trabajo en México, USA, Canadá, Holanda y China. Curadora de exposiciones de libros de artista y editora de libros de foto, ha hecho investigación en educación artística y producción ínter y transdisciplinaria del arte. Actualmente está enfocada a su producción, la cual gira entorno a una colección de libros con imágenes fotográficas, gráficas y textos literarios.
A Mexican artist, her work is based on a process of research and experimentation to connect photography with other art forms, that converge in artist books or installations. Trained as a journalist and as a photographer, she has received several grants and awards. She taught at university level for 20 years. She has exhibited her work in Mexico, the U.S., Canada, the Netherlands, and China. She has curated artist’s book exhibitions and has been editor of photo books, also she has conducted research in art education and inter- and transdisciplinary art production. She is currently focused on her own work, which revolves around a collection of books featuring photographs, graphics, and literary texts.
