(INDIA) Freelance photographer based in New Delhi whose work has been featured in various publications including Le Monde, The Financial Times, The Guardian, The Caravan among others. His work covers a range of subjects including national politics, life and environment in central India to the cricket tour of India to Pakistan. He was a founding member of Goa Photo , a public festival of art photography in Goa and was the consulting photo editor of the book "Witness: Kashmir 1986-2016" which was one of the NYT's 10 best photo books (2017). Ishan has been a staff photographer for leading Indian publications including India Today and Open magazine, and was the photo editor at Tehelka from 2012 to 2013. His work has also been shown in exhibitions and collaborations at Noorderlicht Photo Festival, Groningen, Archive Nationales, Paris, Berlinale 2019, FotoFest Houston ( 2018), Kathmandu Photo Festival , Japan Foundation and the Max Mueller , New Delhi among others. His project "A Peal of Spring Thunder" on life and environment in Chhattisgarh, in the context of violent conflict between the state and armed guerrillas, received FIND grant in 2013, and his book mannequin was a finalist in Cosmos open calls, Kassel, as well as a finalist in Alkazi Foundation and Sher-Gil Sundaram Foundation grant in 2016 and 2019 respectively. Ishan has been nominated for the WPP Joop Swart masterclass in 2019.
