Dessert First! is the first photobook by contemporary photographer Hanna Quevedo.

Dessert First! collects Hanna Quevedo's often self-reflexive and gloriously grainy colour images from the first nine years she spent in the United States exploring and encountering a variety of oddities, beauty and freedom.
Developed between 2007 and 2016, the photos in this book capture the spirit of the author, whose preferences as a person and photographer lead her to choose a nomadic life, where she gets involved with social and political causes, and shares experiences and culture with like-minded people, also artists and activists, who inhabit the peripheries of society.

Her analogue images, rebellious and complicit with those she portrays, take us with her on a journey through a special United States, that of those who choose to live in an unusual way, fight for personal and social causes, and decide for an alternative and adventurous life. Hanna is not a stranger passing through these places but inhabits them and shares ideas and time with their inhabitants, companions on the journey of a life full of unique subjects, full of interesting stories and singular experiences.

The book was formed throughout our program INCUBADORA DE FOTOLIBROS , where different editors, artists and designers accompanied the author in the process of creating the narrative that is built with the union of the path of the images with a special format and coherent to its free spirit, where the pages are joined with an elastic, allowing the reader to build new readings.

The book is co-published with BURN BARREL PRESS, an independent publisher in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, which has already printed the book for sale in the United States and Canada.
