RITUAL
DR. ALDERETE

2017
Nacho López, Mexican photographer in the spirit of urban performance, a reference that modified the vision of reality in this first photographic exhibition by Dr. Alderete (Argentina, 1971), an internationally renowned illustrator based in Mexico City.

A Ritual from primitive cultures to our present, a sequence of activities, words, gestures, objects, dances or masks that abstract us from everyday life and connect us with altered universes.

Antoine d'Agata
Marseille, France.

To insistently disrupt and twist reality as a leitmotif, vertical prints that take us back to the natural format of the illustrated poster of Sci-Fi and horror films. Playfully expanding the possibilities of photographic printing by enhancing its more graphic sense from anaglyph, lenticular, silkscreen prints/images, or the stochastic weaving as a material visuality provoking experience-spectacle.ritual masks of African, Polynesian and Mexican influences scattered in Mexico City as a city, identifiable scenery.

Echoes of an alternate fifties past where all those portrayed here are integrated into the space and seem to be natural inhabitants of a shared imaginary, from stroke to gesture, from gesture to stroke, a natural terrain for this visual creator who confronts the photographic image to generate a peculiar photographic universe, the captivating universe of Dr. Alderete.
