RAMON PEZ THE PHOTOBOOK AS NARRATIVE
Ramon Pez initiates and closes program of Incubadora, being a key member of the research, experimentation and production proposal proposed by Incubadora de Fotolibros, and of the editorial project of Hydra INFRAMUNDO, and will follow the process of the authors at different moments of the process. Ramon Pez will share her way of working, which she has developed over several years in the production of a large number of the most interesting photobooks in the medium.
Through analysing the enormous variety of possibilities offered by the photobook as a medium, we will review how the form, the materials, the story, all are elements that build the narrative of a photobook. Through a collaborative process as a key part of the way of working, you will share with the group a working system that allows each author to delve into research, visual exploration and experimentation, Ramon Pez will advise each author in the development of their photobook.

A VOICE OF ITS OWN: VISUAL STORYTELLING, WRITING AND OTHER MEDIA
The advice to the authors of program will help each one of them to find their voice, sharpen their eyes and ears. Nourish themselves with other genres, other artistic experiences that can recharge their creative energy. Dynamiting fixed ideas, misunderstandings, challenging one's own perception to go deeper into the work, shaping it, gaining momentum while recognising our uniqueness and making use of diverse tools and technologies. Dedicating time and space to give shape to your project by finding your own voice, understanding from new angles what nourishes the story you want to tell, as key elements to support each author to build the narrative of his or her photobook. Nothing she enjoys more than teaching as it allows her to accompany others on the creative journey.
ANA CASAS BRODATHE PHOTOBOOK AS A WORK OF AUTHORSHIP
Ana Casas' tutoring will be focused on supporting each participant in the development of their own creative process, reflecting on individual and group needs, so that the work on the projects is coherent for each author.
Through accompaniment throughout the entire program, the mentoring seeks to support each participant in the development of the narrative of the book, which is constructed through an individual and singular process in which experimentation with images, materials, texts and other elements unveil the book that each author seeks to create. This process allows each author to immerse themselves in their work through experimentation in order to discover the enormous possibilities that the book offers them, and through this work, to construct their own book.
The mentoring will seek to create a common thread between the different workshops, supporting the participants in processing the various forms of work, comments, proposals and points of view of the guest lecturers, so that they do not lose the perspective of their own story and can take advantage of the various phases as vital parts of the book-making process itself.

PHOTOBOOK PANORAMAFRAMEWORK AND REVIEW OF PROJECTS
The photobook scene today. History, background and diversity in the proposals for author's books in the contemporary world. Authors, publishers and proposals. Review of the projects from the point of view of publishing and the construction of a discourse in the form of a photobook, with the aim of providing authors with a framework of the possibilities that this medium offers in order to encourage the start of work on the projects. In this module, emphasis will be placed on the different ways of constructing a narrative and reflection on the content of the participants' projects, with the aim of creating a solid working basis for the rest of program.
SECOND MODULE02 - 08 / 05 / 2019
ARTICULATION OF THE AUTHOR'S DISCOURSE
The development of independent publishers, their way of working and proposals. Why the photobook currently represents an important outlet for the work of authors. Conceptualisation. The development of a book in which form and content construct the work. This module will reflect on how the different formal decisions support the construction of the work and the transmission to the reader of what the author seeks to express. It will analyse how each type of book and decisions such as the form, the print run, the type of publication, among other factors, correspond to the specific needs of each work.
JUAN VALBUENA
A course on self-publishing, page layout, production and marketing of photography books designed for all those who want to explore the possibilities of the book as an optimal support for the dissemination of their photographic project. The aim of the course is to help to achieve the best book project for each of the participants, optimising each project according to the moment in which each proposal is at the moment. To this end, during the workshop the natural process of creating a photobook will be developed and key decisions will be taken, from the selection and editing of the images to the possible publication, distribution and sale of the product, paying special attention to the intermediate phase of the search for coherence between project and object.

DEEPENING THE PHOTOBOOK NARRATIVE
This module will explore the photobook from different perspectives, delving into the visual, narrative and material needs of the projects. At a time when participants have already advanced in the idea of their book, they will be fully immersed in the way of working that Yumi Goto has developed over the years and that will open up new ways of conceiving and producing books. You will review all the material, looking for the visual and narrative essence of the story. In addition, you will learn about materials, forms of binding and production.
YUMI GOTOTHE PHOTOBOOK AS AN OBJECT
In the process of making history visible in a photobook, it is necessary to find a technique to investigate and gain deeper knowledge. When concentrating on the work, the author has the opportunity to experience the surprising and unique discoveries that only emerge during the working process itself.by moving away from stereotypical ideas, one can discover a new method that is actually more suitable for the project, that goes far beyond orthodox ways of editing, such as selecting and composing with the photos.editing photobook mock-ups is now possible using digital tools, but we seek to produce the mock-ups in a way that unfolds the physical relationship with the object and its textures.

PERSONAL NARRATIVESFROM THE WORK TO ITS CIRCULATIONERIK KESSELS
How to visually enhance and develop the discourse in book format. Visual articulation: Conceptualisation. Understanding the nature of the work and the needs it poses. Elements: Image production. Construction of the discourse, narrative structure, editing and design elements. Distribution: Circuits and the contemporary photobook market This module will explore the possibilities of constructing the work in relation to the design elements and the different decisions that will give formal and conceptual coherence to the development of the book.
In contrast and in continuity with the previous module, the authors will have the opportunity to work with Erik Kessels, one of the most interesting designers and editors on the contemporary scene. Kessels has created a publishing imprint in which photography is a key element of identity. From collections where each book shows a surprising personal archive, and which as a whole tell us about the role of photography in our world, and at the same time the importance of the singularity of each story.

EDITING AND PROOFREADING OF THE PHOTOBOOKS

During this module there will be a critical review of the progress of the projects, with emphasis on the construction of the book, both from the narrative, the elements that make it up, and the design and production decisions that together guide the needs of the work itself, seeking to find in each project the specific needs that need to be developed or reinforced to round off the work. We will work on the research that can strengthen the story, the text in the cases where there is one, the edition of the images, and other fundamental elements of the book.

NARRATIVE, MATERIALS, PRODUCTION PROCESSES

In this module, all projects will be reviewed, their current stage will be analysed and a personalised work plan will be drawn up with each author for a book production module.
Authors will explore a wide variety of design options, materials, printing, binding, and other elements that make up a book.
It will explain how the production process is a central element in the narrative of the book, how all decisions are essential to the identity of the photobook: from the size, the paper, the typography, the way it is printed, the type of binding, the print run, the type of publisher with which it is published, the form of distribution, the presentations, the dissemination.
